Stick to your New Years Resolutions – Form a habit

First things first, a very Happy New Year to you all!

With the New Year here everyone is trying to reach their new goals for 2016 and some people are just about to start. It’s great that everyone is feeling motivated but what happens if you lose track?Or get knocked out of your routine or just feel its not going as planned?

This can easily happen but let’s give it the best shot in order to succeed!

How? You need to form a habit. How do you form a habit?

Easy, it only takes 30 days to form a habit that becomes a part of your life.  Once you do, it will stick with your and the more you continue to form that habit it will just as though it was always part of your routine.

This is the crucial ingredient everyone is missing. The most successful people on this planet have used this technique to reach their goals. They know if they form a habit, it becomes routine, it makes them more organised and everything else falls into place. Bit by bit, habit by habit.

So, if your goal is to get fit which is generally the number one goal in January for most people then there are a few things that need to happen in order to do this. 

Here’s how

1. You need to ask how am I going to fit this in my schedule?

By doing this you are going in prepared. Preparation is key to all success.

2. You need to organise your time for exactly when you are going to workout, go the gym, do that class etc.

By being organised and knowing when you are exactly going to do your workouts you will already have 66% more of your goal being achieved.

3: You form your habit and stick to it.

Stick to this goal for 30 days and you will have formed a habit of exercising regularly. If you stick to this for 30 days it will become part of your daily life, your routine, the norm! If you do happen to miss a day, don’t give up. Simply try not let it go past a day as you want to give this your best shot.

You have probably been wanting to do this for years. So, don’t deprive yourself of something that will make you happier. Stick with it!

Don’t try to do everything at once. If you have several goals, test the easiest first to start forming habits. One month at a time, and you will be astonished at how easy your life has become and how achievable all these goals now seem to be. Don’t try and make 5 goals a habit in one month. It’s not realistic and will end up stressing you out. One step at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Take the time to get prepared, get organised and start your goal. By the end of the first month, you will be delighted with how far you have and that goal will finally be a part of your life. You deserve to succeed, do it for you and do it well.
