Cool Art – Breathtaking Colourful Pencil Illustrations by Claudine O’Sullivan
The following works of art are by Claudine O’Sullivan, a fellow Dubliner, and nothing short of a genius with a colouring pencil!
Her art is breathtaking, the more you look at it the more detail and colour you see. Her work is outstanding! She also integrates abstract shapes into her line-work, which is not easy to do.
A bit about Claudine O’Sullivan:
“My practice is fuelled by exploration; I am inspired by travelling and fascinated by nature. Through illustration, I aim to explore and express the visual subtleties of both the unfamiliar and the every day”.
Claudine scribbles her livelihood as an illustrator in London. Favouring traditional techniques and working primarily in pencil. Her style is an expressive balance of realistic form, abstract colour, and graphic composition. As a city-based nature lover, her style combines the delicacies of the natural world and the vivid graphics of an urban landscape.
Here are some of my favorite pieces from Claudine:
This piece is really cool and has such a great story behind it, see below! Check out the small coffee beans that make up his hair and also all the writing. Truly amazing!
Claudine says: “This was an Exhibition / Competition piece for the Inaugural London Coffee festivals Art Project. The portrait was of a coffee farmer, highlighting the importance of sustainable fair trade within the industry. It links to coffee farming and water filtration particularly affecting Tanzania. The piece was the overall winner. Which started my ongoing collaboration with the Coffee Festival in London and Milan”.
“The original was auctioned at an industry event in Milan and now resides in an independent Coffee shop in Dubai. Proceeds went in aid to Project Waterfall, a Tanzanian Water Aid Charity directly supported by the festival”.
This is the perfect example of how a picture can say a 1000 words!
Claudine has an array of items you can purchase from the store part of her website: prints, tees, tote bags, stickers, greeting cards, etc.
