1. What made you begin your Modelling Career?
In a way I fell into modelling. Initially I was on the road to becoming a professional tennis player. I get my hard working, gutsy attitude and determination from this. However, injury struck and never one to just sit about, I decided to do something productive. I tasted Fashion and the catwalk for the first time at Belfast Fashion week in 2012. The event is run by Cathy Martin, who now represents me in Belfast. I was hooked instantly. Not only was I constantly surrounded by beautiful women, I really enjoyed being part of the creative industry. Meeting and collaborating with a completely new and different variety of characters was exciting. It was a natural progression that I ventured into modelling in Dublin. After meeting Andrea Roche I knew immediately that she was the right agent for me. This led to signing with the world renowned agency Elite Model Management in London and Milan.
2. What has been your greatest success with Modelling?
That poses an interesting question for me. I have had big jobs and small jobs, Glamorous and… not so glamorous. The great thing about modelling is that it covers such a wide spectrum of opportunities. Working for Versace and Fendi in Milan is up there for sure. Yet one of my proudest moments was to land a commercial for a company called Remus Uomo. The Advert was shown nationwide and the production was just top notch. All of my friend’s saw it and I was recognized a couple of times in the street. It was a great to see myself all over the TV. I am really happy and grateful to be working in such a fun industry.
3. What has been your greatest failure and what did you learn from it?
Well we all have failures, but you never really fail unless you give up. I learnt that first hand in tennis; ruthlessly you lose a match and BANG you are out of the tournament, but then you have to pick yourself up and move on to the next one. I have also made horrible mistakes and made bad decisions too but at the end of the day they were all life experience’s and the one thing that I have learnt is to always be true to yourself. Deep down we all know what is right.
4. What would be a crucial piece of advice you would give to someone starting this career and on success?
The crucial piece of advice I would give to someone is to always believe in yourself. The fashion industry can be amazing, yet on the other hand you must be able to deal with rejection too, with countless castings, go sees etc. Today they say no, tomorrow they say yes. Whatever the case, you must stay rooted and grounded in a solid belief and healthy love for oneself and never stop hustling, learning and growing.
5. What inspires and motivates you?
I find inspiration in many things such as nature, travel, earning money, climbing mountains and exploring our own capabilities as people as well as watching Rocky movies for sure! However, I find the deepest motivation in fulfilling my own potential and getting the absolute best out of myself in each new challenge that I am faced with, whether that lifting weights in the gym, learning a new skill or on the flip side rocking out on a high fashion shoot!
6. What is the next step for you?
I see myself continuing to progress positively with the modelling, taking each day anew, travelling far and wide and just loving life with good friends, good health and purpose. I have a strong passion for film, having worked on many big productions already such as, Penny dreadful, The Frankenstein Chronicles, Dracula Untold and Game of Thrones. I see myself moving more and more in that direction, In front and behind the Camera, somewhat akin to Jamie Dornan. That being said, I am very much my own person with my own journey, who knows where that will take me!
Connor’s Words of Wisdom:
What’s important is to continue believing in yourself, love and respect your family, by blood or bond. To take each day one step at a time, remembering and focusing on bringing the best out of yourself. Who knows where life will lead you? Its and adventure so have fun!!
